TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2088 includes 23 papers that explore using speed-flow relationships for microsimulation calibration, a behavioral model for microscopic freeway traffic-flow simulation, modeling intersection performance using microsimulation, corridor traffic management and planning strategies that use microsimulation, calibrations of traffic-flow microsimulation models, accident-free car-following models, and freeway oscillation characteristics.This issue of the TRR also examines an oversaturated freeway flow algorithm, on-ramp metering, estimating acceleration and lane-changing dynamics, unifying kinematic wave modeling and three-phase traffic theory, analysis of a recurrent bottleneck, calibration of car-following models in the presence of measurement errors, a model of collision-inclusive car-following behavior, and speed-spacing relations under general car following versus lane changing.In addition, this issue highlights calibrating car-following models by using trajectory data, system-optimal dynamic traffic assignment in a many-to-one network, lane selection model for urban intersections, FASTLANE (traffic flow model), ability of Newell's car-following model to reproduce trajectories, stability in a dynamic car-following platoon, modeling driver behavior as a sequential risk-taking task, and speed distributions on two-lane highways.Date Posted: 02/19/2009
