DR. WEI-HAUR LAM is the team leader of Marine Renewable Energy research group (MRE@UM) based in the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Malaya. He is an associate professor who has been actively promoting the research and development in marine renewable energy in Malaysia. Lam is also a Chartered member of Engineers Ireland (CEng MIEI), member of British Computer Society (MBCS), member of The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM) and a committee member of the newly established Energy Institute Malaysia (EI, Malaysia). Lam obtained a bachelor degree in civil engineering and a master degree in computer science from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and his PhD in Civil Engineering from Queen University Belfast.

The marine renewable energy research group (MRE@UM) is recruiting Research Assistants (RAs) to work on HIR funded project based in Department of Civil Engineering. The payment will be decided based on personal profile. If recruited, scholarship is provided. The project was titled “Ocean Energy and Waterway Developments in the Straits of Malacca”. The applicant is expected to complete his/her BEng with at least second upper or a master degree. The main responsibilities are:

• Conduct research in a chosen area of marine renewable energy or waterway protection with discussion of supervisor;

• Create new knowledge in the area of marine renewable energy in Malaysian context;

• Publish research outcomes to ISI journals;

• Support team leader and members to make the project successful;

• Continue his/her study up to MEngSc/PhD levels;
Candidate has Civil engineering, CFD background is preferable.
