This appears to be a rather complex problem, although it is simple to describe.

I would assume that temperatures at entry and exit are fixed. And the thermal property of the porous media has to be specific (heat conductor or insulator). The initial field can be interpolated from the boundary conditions. This is an easy way to do it.

BTW, has your supervisor/mentor (assuming you have one) given you any ideas?
