Opening Positions of Research Assistantship in Transportation:
Professor Fan Yang is a new assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at City College of City University of New York and welcomes master and doctoral applications in both spring and fall, 2008.
Dr. Yang is an expert in dynamic and stochastic transportation network modeling, intelligent transportation systems, logistics systems, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in transportation. He obtained his Ph.d. and M.S. degrees from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and his B.E. from Tsinghua University. Before joining City University of New York, he worked more than two years in transportation and logistics department at Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI). There are five transportation faculty members in the transportation planning and engineering program with expertise in transportation planning, traffic engineering, network analysis, infrastructure management, public transportation, travel behavior and activity-based modeling. City College hosts two prestigious transportation research institutes: Institute for Transportation Systems (http://www-ce.engr.ccny.cuny.edu/Research/transportation_systems.htm) and University Transportation Center (http://www.utrc2.org). The faculty members provide a critical link in resolving our national and regional transportation problems while training the professionals who address our transportation systems and their customers on a daily basis.

Preferred qualifications include M.S. or B.S. degree in civil engineering. We also encourage applications from related disciplines such as industrial engineering, automatic control, physics, and mechanical engineering. GRE and Toefl scores are required in the review process.
