2010美国DOE准备成立三个能源创新中心(Energy Innovation Hubs)，类似于之前的五大研究中心(Stanford, Caltech,Chicago等)。

美国的风能研究感觉很难和太阳能和氢能研究竞争，这次是太阳能、核能和高效能源建筑设计。下面有个PPT可以看看。

DOE: Status of Competitions for Energy Innovation Hubs



As reported in past Washington Updates, Congress provided funding for the Department of Energy (DOE) to support three Energy Innovation Hubs (Hubs) starting in fiscal year (FY) 2010.  The three topics are: Fuels from Sunlight, Nuclear Simulation and Modeling, and Energy Efficient Building Systems Design.



·         The first solicitation is expected to be for the Fuels From Sunlight Hub and to be issued in late November or early December.  The competition will be managed by the DOE Office of Science and will focus on artificial photosynthesis (not photovoltaics).  Description of the goals and associated research challenges can be found in the presentation at  http://www.er.doe.gov/bes/BESAC/Kung_Nov_09.ppt.



·         The Modeling and Simulation for Nuclear Fuel Cycles and Systems Hub competition will be managed by the DOE Office of Nuclear Energy.  A workshop is scheduled for December 7 and a draft Funding Opportunity Announcement is expected to be posted prior to that workshop; information on the Hub goals, the solicitation, and the workshop is at http://events.energetics.com/DOE-NE-M-S-09/.



·         The competition for the Energy Efficient Building Systems Design Hub will be managed by the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.



DOE hopes to create Hubs in additional areas in FY 2011.
