PI: Prof. Lin Fu He is an Assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Department of Mathematics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Before he joined HKUST, he was a postdoctoral fellow working with Prof. Parviz Moin at Center for Turbulence Research (CTR), Stanford University for more than 3 years and he also did postdoctoral research with Prof. Nikolaus A. Adams in Technical University of Munich (TUM), where he obtained his Ph.D. degree with a grade of Summa Cum Laude. His on-going and future research involves fundamental study of flow physics including turbulence, transitional flows, multi-phase flows, and aerodynamics. He is also focusing on numerical methods for solving PDEs, applied mathematics for scientific computing, and technologies for high-performance computing.
FU lab for computational physics and fluid mechanics is hiring: l One fully-funded postdoctoral opening on fundamental research of wall-bounded turbulence, hypersonic flows, multi-phase flows or flow stability analysis; high-order numerical methods or scientific computing. Candidates with strong backgrounds in aerospace, mechanical engineering, and applied mathematics are very much welcome. Interested applicants should inquire directly at linfu@ust.hk with a CV and a research statement. l Two fully-funded Ph.D. openings on computational physics, scientific computing, aerodynamics, and fluid mechanics. Graduate students should contact Prof. Fu and apply to the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering or the Department of Mathematics at HKUST. l Undergraduate students for research opportunities should directly contact Prof. Fu at linfu@ust.hk with a brief statement of their interests and backgrounds.
In our group, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers from Stanford U., MIT, TUM, Tokyo Tech etc. Potential candidates are also strongly encouraged to apply for the fellowship provided by HKUST and Hong Kong government. *The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (abbreviated as HKUST) is a public research university in Clear Water Bay, Hong Kong. Founded in 1991 by the British Hong Kong Government, it was the territory's third institution to be granted university status. HKUST is commonly regarded as one of the fastest growing universities in the world. In 2019, the university was ranked seventh in Asia by QS and third by The Times, and around top 40 internationally. It was ranked 27th in the world and second in Hong Kong by QS 2021.
