the use of HTCO to elicit printout of the wall heat transfer coefficient.

The first point to note is that this facility is available for turbulent flow only, which is why the discussion on STRS, STAN, HTCO etc appears under the heading '4.1 Turbulence' in TR010. Library Case V408 is laminar, although it could be argued that it should be turbulent given in the inlet Reynolds number. Thus, any STORED wall-function quantities will be returned as zero for this case. However, this can be circumvented by setting a very low turbulent viscosity, say 1.e-10. This action will force PHOENICS to go through the wall-function coding. Then, if it exists, laminar flow will be detected next to the wall. In any event, STRS, SKIN, etc will now be finite. However, in PHOENICS V3.4, HTCO will be computed incorrectly (very large unrealistic values) because the EARTH coding assumes that the user has requested storage of the local Stanton number, i.e. STORE(STAN). Therefore, one must store both STAN and HTCO in PHOENICS V3.4. In PHOENICS V3.5, which will be released shortly, this dependence has been removed and so storage of STAN is not compulsory.
