CFD is one of the areas that high performance computing and grid technology can play a significant role, especially in the construction of future computing infrastructure. Grid computing has attracted millions of dollars of funding from both government research councils and leading industry partners in US and UK, and has been seen as one of the key enabling technologies in the future computing. And due to the commitment to open source, open standard, open infrastructure of the majority of Grid-related projects around the world, this is believed to the best opportunity for countries like China to make a big share in shaping the future practice in science and engineering community.
Although, there are quite a number of chinese scholars working in those projects, I haven't seen much activities in universities in China. This forum will bring awareness and related discussions to all the researchers in China.
